My ears are very sensitive to any metal but gold. I was unable to wear anything but gold in them for the longest time. That is until I found out about a trick I can do. Before putting the earrings in your ears, wash them off with rubbing alcohol and then put a thin layer of clear nail polish on the metal that will be touching your skin. No one but you will be able to see the nail polish and you do not have to buy only the expensive earrings. You can wear any kind you want. But when you take them off you must use nail polish remover and take the nail polish off and re-apply the polish every time. This will prevent polish from chipping off inside your earring hole.
